The 2018 VW Passat Gets the Gran Turismo Treatment
What is the new 2018 Volkswagen Passat GT?
There are plenty of peppy little cars out there, but who wants to drive a compact? If you’re like many shoppers, you’d prefer it if models like the 2018 Volkswagen Passat, which is much roomier than the Jetta, offered similar options to the Jetta GLI. Now, it does. For those who have been asking what the new Passat GT is and when it’s coming out, we have details.
How is the Passat GT different from other trims?
When we think of the Passat, we think of a model that is best known for its sophisticated appearance. This is even more so our impression after its refresh. The Passat GT is naturally a sportier version of the Passat. We recently saw the addition of the R-Line to the lineup, and this will continue into 2018, but the GT differs in a major way: It has the 3.6-liter V6 that has a maximum output of 280 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Paired with the engine is our favorite transmission option, the six-speed dual-clutch DSG automatic.
The GT does share many of the same styling cues as the Passat R-Line, which is particularly noticeable with the front bumper and honeycomb grille. The GT additionally has the red line accents that give it a GTI-esque appeal. Black side sills, mirrors and a roof provide a sleek appearance.
The Passat GT will be a mid-level trim with standard features that include the 6.3-inch touchscreen with App-Connect, Bluetooth, dual-zone automatic climate control and heated front seats.
A suggested price of $29,090 will be where the GT starts upon its release in the second quarter of 2017. Keep an eye on our inventory this spring and early summer. Also be sure to check back here at the Kuhn Volkswagen Blog for more updates.
